An Orthodontist's Field Guide to Involving the Periodontist

This seminar addresses the periodontal risk factors every orthodontist should screen for before and during aligner therapy — thin biotype, recession, dehiscence risk, black triangles — and builds a practical framework for when and how to bring in a periodontist.

The session focuses on the orthodontist's side of the collaboration: timing referrals around grafting, crown lengthening, or extrusion; adjusting aligner mechanics for reduced periodontal support; and structuring communication with the periodontist so both clinicians plan the case together rather than in sequence.
